non human object

  1. What is the relationship between dehumanization, objectification and violence?

Making a person an object, is dehumanizing them. You take away the person and replace it with a thing. This is a common phenomenon in today's society, we replace human body parts with things and products. We can see female bodies without faces, legs, arms, chests, making the female per say - an object, she is no longer human. Men are nowadays attracted to an object, since everything that makes a person a person, is removed and stripped away. Females are an object of pleasure and entertainment in modern day society.

But dehumanization is not an occurrence primarily limited to females. This happens with men also, but rather than taking away body parts and in that sense objectifying the male population, they are supposed to lack as much feminine qualities and emotions as possible. A male should always strive to be the alfa-male, he should be strong, powerful, confident, tough. This idea has been depicted by the media as the ultimate man, and who doesn't want to be the ultimate man, who doesn't want to be like Arnold Swarchenegger from Terminator, or even Rambo? This shrewd image has caused an increase in violence, which should not be a surprise. Brutal masculinity becomes something that is a norm, and this leads to violence not being so far away. Men are encouraged to be violent, that's what they should be in order to real men. Are females supposed to turn into objects then to be real females?
